black desktop woes

I go to install and finish through the all of the process and everything goes great, i was like "sure.. wow, this is easy and simple", and then the black screen, with of course the logo on the bottom right hand Windows Vista Logo, I can't remember the build number it's the newest one for 06/12/06. Any solutions? I have waited for a while while in regular mode and then go to safe mode and the same issue? what's the deal?

The very first time Vista brings up the desktop after install, takes forever. Let your machine just sit when it gets to that point. It took mine over 10 minutes, but after that it boots fast and normally. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher. Since you are reading it in English, thank a Soldier.
